8 New Posts!! Time for Gardening

One of my favorite things to do in the spring is to get some color into my yard. I love planting some annual flowers in barrels and hanging baskets around the house. When it looks like this, I wonder if I have the energy!

Beth and Brenan gave me this white cart for my birthday, so I had fun planting some herbs into little pots to go on it. They smell so good as I enter or exit my front door! I've had the other cart for a few years now.
This crab apple tree has never bloomed like this before! It is so extra-ordinarily beautiful, especially from my bedroom window! You can see one of our newest trees in the foreground. It's a flowering crab as well, but it will be reddish/pink. I can't wait until it is bigger and full of blossoms!
Don has been working on preparing this patch of lawn for some sod, as it was dug up when we had to run power line into the house after a 3 day power failure in the spring of 2010. He also replaced the railroad ties on the flower beds.
This is my perennial flower bed, and it is growing so nicely with all our rain. It will be gorgeous in a couple of weeks.

Las Vegas in June!

It was a rare event that my friend and colleague, Cheryl, and I got to attend an educational conference down in Las Vegas during the first week of June. We stayed at Ceasar's Palace and had an interesting time. We were usually turned around, or lost, in that huge hotel. The conference was held there, so that helped!
We enjoyed walking the strip at night and seeing the other amazing hotels.

The Bellagio and Venician were my favorites.
I couldn't believe these tall roses were real, and were changed each morning at 5 am.
The pools were incredible and I loved sitting in them, just soaking up the late afternoon sun!
The streets of Venice. The gondola was awesome too!
The fountains and water show were all we could afford this trip. What fun to see them each night.
Cheryl amused us with her first city bus ride. She held on as we made our way over to the outlet mall.
What amazing creations, and what money!!!!! It was a fun and educational 4 days.

Evalyn's Blessing Day

Sunday, May 22, the day after McKay turned two. Don and I loved being able to attend the blessing of little Evalyn Elizabeth down in Utah. Here she is talking to her 'Babu', and he's loving it.

Happy Second Birthday, McKay!

Don and I traveled down to Provo to celebrate McKay's 2nd birthday since it was Victoria Day weekend, and the Klains were also blessing little Evalyn. We arrived just in time for a wonderful birthday lunch, followed by these cute little basketball cupcakes. McKay loved all the attention he got all day long.
Tyler, Juliana, Addy, and Mckenzie also traveled to be with us. What fun to see them too!
The girls loved being with McKay to play and celebrate!
McKay knows he's number one today, and every day!
Over to the nearby park for some games in the sun. McKay picked up a stick on the ground and started swinging without any prompting.
Sweet little Evalyn came over too!

A Mother's Day Surprise

What a sweet Mother's Day gift from my sweet daughter-in-law, Juliana. She took an art class and learned how to do this 'She Art'. She has made it look like me, and I absolutely love it. Thanks, Juliana!

Too Much Snow!

ON April 6th, I took this photo of all the snow in the mountains! What a spring we've had!
